Feelings run high over cane ban

 

In the 1980s in England there was a continuing campaign to outlaw corporal punishment in schools. Eventually it was banned in 1987. During this time many local newspapers found it very easy to fill their pages by taking to the streets to get the views of the public.

The Lincolnshire Echo, an evening paper in the east of England, was one such. Here are a couple of examples …
