It seems he caned the whole class, 37 boys, one stroke each after no one owned up. After the caning still no one owned up so they were all caned again. And again. And again. 148 strokes of the cane because no one owned up. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteWith this going to court everyone would have known who got caned as expect a fair few of the class hadn't told their parents. From the fact he gave a chance between each set for the guilty to own up seems to indicate Mr Denniss was experienced in using the cane as a discipline method and delivered all 148 strokes firmly. Surprised it got as far as it did coming to court and a very public record of the class punishment.
