Memories: The fan belt in metal shop

 

American writer Colbert I. King remembers at Junior High School the fan belt that was always sticking out of the back pocket of the sheet metal shop teacher. And the speed at which the lumbering old man could whip it out to inflict pain on boys who were doing things of which he strongly disapproved.

Then there was the steel ruler and a thick wooden paddle …
