‘Flogging days of old’

There hardly seems to be a time in history when someone or other didn’t sound off publicly about the lack of discipline among today’s schoolboys. And, it didn’t take them too long before they harked back to the days when things were so much better.

This report from 1923 looks back a hundred years to the days when a schoolmaster was calculated to have administered 91,500 canings and much more besides during his teaching career.
