Favourite TV Drama Clips: 16

One of the things that I’m looking for as I compile my list of  Top 20 favourite school CP scenes from TV drama is some sense that they might look ‘authentic’. That is, that something like that depicted in the clip might have actually happened in ‘real life’.

There are many TV series that show life in schools in the United States in the ‘pioneering days.’ At number 16 in my list is the TV series Annie Oakley, a fictionalized account of the life of legendary Wild West sharpshooter Annie Oakley. Set in the quiet western town of Diablo, Annie and her little brother Tagg made sure that outlaws who moseyed into town kept on going.

In this episode called Annie and a Widow’s Mite (season 2, episode 16) which first aired in April 1955 Annie steps in when the widow Malloy and her young son Dave are being scared into selling their property.

A corrupt teacher intrigues to have Dave committed to a reformatory school. In this scene he thrashes the boy with a switch for being late to school.
