Educators debate if paddles worth a lick


Principal Humberto Vasquez grips the smoothly sanded paddle that he uses on his high school students with reluctance.

It’s not one of those flamboyant paddles that principals of bygone days wielded and prominently displayed in their offices.

Nor does it brandish any clever saying like: “The Board of Education.”
