Jingo Jones and his Invisibiliser

One of the delights of boys’ comics and story papers was the imagination of some writers. By the 1950s it wasn’t good enough simply to invent five boys and put them in a boarding school and have them get up to everyday adventures.

What was needed were new-fangled inventions and trips into space or visits by extra-terrestrials.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I think Jingo Jones and his Invisibiliser has long been forgotten but he was a feature of the Lion. Jingo had an uncle who was a professor who invented things. To cut to the chase, Jingo got hold of his ‘hyperphontonic invisibiliser’ that allowed him to make things unseeable.

Oh, what adventures he got up to at school.

In this episode from 1952 Jinty uses a bowler hat to protect himself from a headmaster’s caning. Read on to find out how.
