Mystery of prefects’ expulsion
Here’s an intriguing short newspaper
report from 1928 that leaves more questions than it answers.
Three senior prefects were expelled after
they ‘bathed in a forbidden pool.’
‘Other incidents occurred, and two of the
boys were asked to leave at once.’
The headmaster said he considered the
prefects should be ‘degraded’ from office and then thought it wiser that they
should go.
It is not reported whether a trip over the
back of the armchair in the headmaster’s study was considered as a viable
option.
The headmaster finally appealed, ‘I think
it would be best for the school and the boys concerned if the whole matter be
allowed to drop.’
Some hope: We’re still talking about it 95
years later ….
As
published in the Staffordshire Sentinel, (Stoke-on-Trent, England), 6
August 1928.

This sounds like more than just a swim to cool off I wonder what else they got up to I think we will have to use our imagination for this one. 🤔
