Memories: ‘Blood ran down my legs’
Roddy Llewellyn, who in his day was
probably most famous for being Princess
Margaret’s friend, caused controversy in
1978 when he recalled his days at the elite public school, Shrewsbury.
He told a women’s magazine that he was
‘whipped the whole time, until blood was pouring down my legs.’
As this report from the Belfast
Telegraph of 16 August 1978 describes, the school denied his claim.
Journalist Paul Foot also shared his memories of beatings at Shrewsbury.
