The Fourth Form at Grimslade
Here’s another school tale, this
time from a boys’ story paper called the Ranger which only ran for 130
issues between 1931 and 1933 before it was redesigned.
It’s called The Fourth Form at
Grimslade and it hooks us tantalizingly with this come-on:
‘Many unruly boys have arrived at Grimslade School,
but never one like Jim Dainty. Now comes the task of taming this hot-headed
rebel, and Dr. Sparshott proceeds to do it – with liberal does of the birch.’
And it’s written by the
creator of Billy Bunter, Frank
Richards ….
As published in
the Ranger, 17 September 1932.
Copies of the Ranger
are available on the Comic Books Plus website
and at Friardale.
