Comic: Ron Brown’s Schooldays
How many readers remember the
British comic, Nutty? Not many I would guess. It ran for 292 issues from February
1980 to September 1985, when it merged with the more famous Dandy.
Nutty
was apparently an attempt to create a livelier and more chaotic comic compared
to many on sale at the time.
Here’s an example of one of the strips
called Ron Brown’s Schooldays (no prizes for guessing how they came by that
title).
It’s from 1984 when corporal punishment in
English schools was on the way out – it was outlawed two years later, so
there’s not much scope for cane wielding in the stories.
In this one, Ron has a bad school report
so he throws it away. Unfortunately for him, his teacher finds it and takes it
to his parents …
As published in Nutty,
22 September 1984.
