MP calls for return of tawse to Scottish schools
In 2006, 20 years after corporal
punishment was abolished in schools in Scotland, a member of parliament called
for it to be brought back.
“Bring back the belt, it does
us no harm, and possibly the youth of the country would benefit from this,” John
Swinburne, a Member of the Scottish Parliament, told the BBC Reporting
Scotland programme.
Two thirds of the people who
responded to a BBC online poll wanted the belt brought back.
