TV drama: Unleash Your Dreams: 2

Here’s another couple of selections from the South Korean TV drama Unleash Your Dreams (sometimes translated as Realize Your Dreams). It was produced by the educational EBS channel in 1999 and dealt with issues at high school including the use of corporal punishment and sexual harassment.

Beatings, sometimes severe with bats, are common features of episodes and they are inflicted on senior boys (many of the actors were far too old for the parts they played). There are no English subtitles and half the fun of watching this series is trying to work out the plot.

In this first clip two schoolgirls are harassed, there’s a fight, a senior boy beats another with a bat and a teacher beats a boy while he presents himself on all fours, which appears to be the standard way of inflicting CP at the school.

In the second clip (a selection of scenes from episodes 13 and 14) there’s what looks like some boy-on-boy punishment action and a row over a girl appears to be behind it all.
