Dennis the Menace
of the Beano must be one
of the most iconic characters in comic history. Dennis has appeared in the
comic since 1951. He must be the archetypal badly behaved boy. In many people’s
memory the final frame of every story had Dennis across his dad’s knee with a
slipper smacking into his upturned backside.
He is less remembered for his misbehaviour at school, but here are some reminders.

My dad always kept up a good rhythm with his slipper when he had me over his knee,one whack every few seconds made sure my bottom warmed up very quickly.After 5 minutes of the slipper I knew I wouldn't be sitting comfortably for a while! Dad made sure I felt his slipper a few times every week,mostly across my bare bottom.
