His Mother’s
Lover, by Rock Candy Films, is really just a mucky movie pretending to be
something more serious. It is set in an elite boarding school in England in the
early 1930s and is about a young man ‘struggling with his homosexuality.’ When
Robert is caught in a passionate embrace with another student he is beaten by the
headmaster and suspended from school.
