Sixth-form girls demand the cane, just like the boys
GIVE
US A CANING, SAY GIRLS
A group of schoolgirls are demanding equal rights – to
the cane.
They are accusing their head of sex discrimination
because he has spared them, but has given the BOYS in the class six of
the best.
The girls say in these days of equality they should
have got the whack too.
In fact, they are so angry at being let off they have
sent a letter of protest to county education chiefs.
The row blew up after sixth-formers at the City of
Leicester school were caught having a drink in a pub.
High
opinion
Headmaster Mr. M. Wood caned the boys but punished the
girls by withdrawing some of their privileges.
One of the girls said: “The headmaster has obviously
contravened the Sex Discrimination Act by singling out the boys.
“We should ALL have been caned – and we have
told the education department that.”
One of the boys said admiringly: “I never expected
support like this from GIRLS! I have a very high opinion of the opposite
sex now.”
The grown-ups weren’t quite so impressed however.
An education department spokesman said: “Volunteering
to be caned is very commendable of the girls I must say – but the headmaster is
not going to oblige them.”
And, Mr. Wood said bluntly: “This is a lot of
nonsense.”
