Four in a Fix
A rousing long, complete school story from 1919, featuring Jimmy Silver and his chums at Rookwood school.
“Knowles of the Sixth strode into the junior Common-room at Rookwood with a black frown upon his face and a stout ashplant in his hand.” With an opening line like that the author could only be Owen Conquest (better known by his other pen name Frank Richards.)
The story appeared in the Penny Popular, 26 April 1919, which is available with other editions on the Friardale website, here.
