Comic: Stage School
Stage School ran in Cheeky Weekly, a comic that
was published from 1977 to 1980 before merging with Whoopee!
The basic idea was that the
pupils were in a kind of “Fame” school where they were learning to be
magicians, dancers, jugglers and such like.
In the middle of the chaos
they caused was a typical schoolmaster who might have appeared in any other
school comic strip of the time: complete with gown, mortarboard and, of course,
swishy cane.
These examples are from 1979 and 1980. You can find more Cheeky Weekly comics on the British Comics Compilations website here.
