Movie: Incautos

Swindled (known in its original Spanish as Incautos) is a 2004 film about the life of Ernesto, a con man. It is told in flashbacks and is a story about lies and deceptions.

In this clip Ernesto as a child has been abandoned in an orphanage by his father who promised to return to collect him but never did. Ernesto quickly learns to trust no one, and that lying is often the simplest way to get what you want.

Priests at the orphanage do not treat the children well and after Ernesto faints because he is sick, they treat him better. Ernesto becomes the target of aggression from other children. To stop himself being beaten up he fakes fainting. Seeing that it works, he begins to lie continually.
