Movie: Cadet Waltz
Cadet Waltz is a 2018 short Russian film of a fantasy based on the books and verses of children’s writer Vladislav Krapivin. Apparently, it depicts a history of Russia. In this clip after boys fight one is beaten with a belt by someone who looks like he might be a prefect (but frankly with this movie your guess is as good as mine).

No, this is a fictional story about the life of students of modern cadet schools in Russia. We have many such schools, where students, along with secondary and high school education, receive lessons in military, sports and patriotic education. And the main idea of this film is rather to convey the spirit of patriotism to the younger generation than to make an excursion into history.
ReplyDeleteThe brawler guy was not flogged by the prefect, but simply by an older comrade. There are no corporal punishments in Russian schools for a long time, and the prefects, in our understanding, are engaged in other things, sometimes they don’t care about discipline in the classroom. However, such a spanking is really possible in reality, just in a more informal setting - officially this is fraught with consequences))
What amused me the most in this video: on the board, in front of which the punished was "laid down", a differential equation was written. A hint that the exact sciences discipline a fragile mind better than a belt ... That's how we do it.
