CP Services, Boddington Manor – the interview
I guess it will come as no
surprise to you to learn that the clip from the greatly lamented CP Services,
London’s Discipline At Boddington Manor School was a major hit with
viewers of this blog. Click here if you didn’t see it.
The video has always been a
bit of a mystery to me: was it a full stand-alone video or a showcase with
clips from other movies from the studio?
Keith and his business
partner Si offered a discipline service and made videos. Recently, I discovered
an interview they gave to TD Monthly magazine in 2009.
Keith says, ‘Discipline
At Boddington Manor School was our first film and came about by chance. My
thought was to produce the first of the volume DVD’s we produce: Si’s idea was
that we produced a film. Once we had agreed that it was then sorting the
location shots, sound effects and finally editing, which neither of us had had
any experience of.’
He goes on, ‘There
are two further Boddington’s scripted with the majority of the locations
worked out, however, there are two problems. Firstly, finding the lads to
appear and being able to retain them for the entire shooting schedule.
Secondly, this is a business and the capital outlay would be in the region of
six to seven thousand pounds, which in these economic times would not give us a
return on the initial investment.’
I’m pretty certain the two
videos never got made and CP Services closed down in about 2013.
The full interview in which they discuss many aspects
of their work was posted on the JockSpank website in 2014 and is still available
here.
So, there’s no more Boddingtons! Let’s drown our
sorrows by looking at a clip featuring Keith as the headmaster and (I think) Si
as the naughty boy.
In it Simmonds, a sixth-former, has been caught after
lights out splashing other boys with water. Well, if a senior boy behaves like
a junior what can he expect when he is sent to the headmaster ...
