Studio: Sting Pictures

Is there any doubt that Sting Pictures is the best-known producer of male-on-male school discipline videos in the world? It started in 1993 in Britain and later moved to the Czech Republic. Some scenes in the early videos were shot in the 1980s.

You can read more about Sting’s history on the Feel The Sting Blogsite.

I know it’s all a matter of taste, but personally I prefer the earlier Sting vids when they were still made in England. Maybe it’s because they were the first such videos I had seen and you know what they say about “the first time.” These were the days of such videos as Grey Shorts, the “life and times of Osbourne Lodge College’s student body and how stern disciplinary measures are taken by the masters to preserve the well maintained traditions that go to make up boarding school life.”

Among the “boys” being put through their paces in the early videos (often by Rich O’Shea, as headmaster) were:

Brett Stevens

David

Matt Mills

Paul

Tigger

Vex

One of my favourites possibly might be the first school discipline scene that Sting ever put out on video (VHS in those days). It is from Punishment Book 2 (available to buy here.) Tony has been caught smoking in the school toilets, so naturally he is sent to the headmaster’s study. This early video doesn’t reach the extremely high technical quality (lighting, camera angles, editing and so on) of later Stings but it remains (to me) a classic of its type.
