Private schools put down the cane
More than five years after corporal
punishment was banned by law in state schools in the UK it was still allowed in
private institutions. But as this survey in 1993 reveals, its use was all but
dead.
But one school had replaced the cane with
the paddle and the headmaster wasn’t afraid to use it.

As before we are all over the place. There's a desk between the boy and the teacher holding the paddle and the boy is only about a quarter bending down. At least he looks unhappy so A.I. has got that right.
