‘Boys need threat of the cane’

 

Twenty years after the cane was outlawed in British schools, there were still calls for its return. This reader of a local newspaper in east London, believes ‘boys, in particular, need to have the threat of physical punishment looming over them to keep them on the straight and narrow’.
