Movie: Good Morning Boys
English comedy actor Will Hay
made a good living in the 1930s playing bumbling schoolmasters (we’ve met him here).
The 1937 film Good Morning Boys was fairly typical of his work. He is an incompetent schoolmaster who
attained his teaching position by fraud. He bumbles through his lessons and his
class is made up of dim schoolboys who are so ignorant they are unable to
graduate school. Therefore, they are all played by adults and sometimes older
adults at that.
Here's a
clip of what passed for comedy back in the day. You might remember we trod
similar territory with Fun at St Fanny’s (here).
