GREENVILLE, O. – A 13-year-old boy, apprehended in the
Washington township school with $3 and the school paddle, is being held by
authorities here.
Darke county sheriff’s deputy Don Shilt said the boy
told authorities he intended on burning the paddle became he had been “whacked
by it.”
The boy was discovered in the school, about eight
miles west of Greenville, late yesterday afternoon when the custodian, Eugene Ross,
went in to check the building.
The deputy said the youth was carrying a burlap sack
and had parked his bicycle at a bridge a short distance from the school on the
Palestine-Union City road.
