Artist of the week: Franco

In the first of a series in which we enjoy the work of artists who work in the field of school discipline we look at Franco.

Franco – who is sometimes called Professor Redbottom – draws a range of scenarios including teachers, college professors and coaches. He likes to draw traditional over-the-knee spankings.

In an interview, Franco once said, “I want to show the characters being overwhelmed, embarrassed, or dazzled by sensations. If humor happens in my pieces that’s fine. I’m not into making dark drawings.”

Franco said this image was inspired by the videos produced by Sting Pictures. This lad is about to graduate, and has always challenged the Headmaster, who has decided before the young man leaves he must have a private meeting with him and applaud, at length, his great academic success and basic assets.
