How much does the belt hurt?
How will former British Lion rugby star John Beattie react when he is given the belt? Thirty years after it was banned, John reflects on the classroom punishment.
This is a clip from BBC Scotland in 2017 which looks back at the days when teachers in Scottish schools
used a leather tawse (often called a belt) to whack a misbehaving boy’s palms.
Corporal punishment was outlawed in 1987.
So how does he react?
