Welcome to 2026
Happy New Year and welcome to 2026. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of the Traditional School Discipline blog. A big ‘thank you’ to all the people who read and support this site. There are more than 1,700 posts and in excess of 2.8 million views. I started the blog during Covid lockdown to amuse myself and now look at it ….
In recent months I’ve been in private messaging
with some readers about generating images using artificial intelligence (A.I).
People are experimenting with different versions of A.I. to see what they can
come up with.
As an experiment I gave copilot a drawing
from a copy of the Magnet
– the story paper for boys that was at its height in the 1930s. It’s the one
that made Billy
Bunter famous and became renown among
certain sections of the community for the many drawings it featured involving
C.P.
This drawing is from the story Five in a
Fix (see
more here) and below it is how copilot
‘reimagined’ it as a photo.
The first thing to note is that the number
of boys increases from five to six and the second is the prefects age by about
fifteen years. I did try to get copilot to make them younger but it wasn’t
playing ball.
So, perhaps not a total success, but
interesting nonetheless.
