The Boy Done Good
Here’s an anecdote that one often read in
newspapers back in the day. A schoolmaster tells how oh so reluctantly he had
to cane a boy and oh how much he regretted it, but years after the event the
said boy sought out the master to thank him for punishing him.
Of course, one wouldn’t dream of
disbelieving the master…
This one is recounted by ‘The Gossiper’ in
a local newspaper in England in 1953.

published in the Lincolnshire Echo, 6 March 1953
