TV Drama: The Durrells

When Louisa Durrell gets a call from school to tell her that her son, Gerald, has been caned. She marches up to the school, confronts the headmaster and breaks one of his canes.

This is the opening scene to The Durrells, the UK’s ITV adaptation of Gerald Durrell’s three autobiographical books about his family’s four years (1935–1939) on the Greek island of Corfu.
