Punishment book reveals girls got it too

A book recording details of corporal punishment in the 1920s and early 1930s at a school in Lowestoft, Suffolk, revealed ‘painful moments’, according to Trevor Westgate, writing in a local newspaper. What makes this book unusual is that it recorded the caning of girls.

Offences meriting the cane included throwing paper across the room.
