Head opens smoking room for pupils
Smoking cigarettes was once considered a
heinous crime in schools. If you got found behind the bike sheds having an
illicit puff you might expect to find yourself touching toes in the
headmaster’s office.
But in 1962, one grammar school headmaster
in Yorkshire, England decided it was wiser to open a ‘smoking room’ where
pupils aged 14 and over could smoke in peace. It would stop them sneaking into
odd corners to smoke in violation of school rules.
The idea was so novel it made news across
the world. Here’s a report from Canada.

Are these the smokers we saw before? I wish they did not have permission and we could see them bent down tight and getting six hard.
