Head ‘flogs’ two for shoplifting

 

The headmaster of a public school ‘flogged’ two pupils found stealing from shops and a teacher was prosecuted for ‘severely’ caning a group of pupils who were stomping their feet: two cases cited in a newspaper editorial comment from 1954 about youth being out of control.
