Govt. Inquiry: how does the cane feel?
The British Government sponsored an
inquiry to find out what goes on in the schoolboy’s mind as he thinks about the
caning he has just received.
This was announced in 1947 during a
parliamentary debate about abolishing corporal punishment in schools.
Unfortunately, there appears to be no
record of the inquiry’s findings …

A.l. has done a magnificent job of portraying a young boy in agony after a severe caning. But where was the caning? Outside on the playground with an audience? He seems to be rushing inside looking for some comfort.
ReplyDeletePoor boy! Is he in agony over the caning he has just received or the one he has been ordered to report to receive? Are the boys behind laughing or in sympathy? How do those doors and windows fit into the architecture? A curious picture but you can tell from his face that he has suffered. A.l. has portrayed imaginatively again.
