‘Caning acts as a great deterrent to others’

 

In many discussions about the use of corporal punishment the line between discipline in school and juvenile delinquency in society at large were blurred.

Rotarians in a small town in England wondered who should be responsible for discipline: parents, schools, or courts.

Their meeting was reported in great detail in the local newspaper. Below: first an extract from the report of most relevance and then the report in full. A lot is said about the danger of the cinema.

Below that is a letter from a headmaster who believes ‘a summary caning is the most effective treatment’ and ‘a caning acts as a great deterrent to others.’
