Head in hot water after brandishing slipper
A headmaster who appeared on television to
support the use of corporal punishment in schools brandished a slipper in a
‘sadistic’ manner, according to a critic.
Banning CP in schools was a hot topic in 1986
and his appearance caused a stir in the local paper in Rochdale, Geater
Manchester.

I think it demonstrates the kind of anti cp propaganda manifest at the time when a hearsay description of a person's action is describd as sadistic before then being retracted.
