Doco: Campaign to abolish school cane
Corporal punishment was outlawed in UK
state schools in 1986 and in the years running up to this a group called the
Society of Teachers Opposed to Physical Punishment (STOPP)
was at the forefront of the abolition campaign.
Its work is featured in the BBC TV documentary ‘A Good Flogging the Story of Corporal Punishment’ from its Timeshift series.
Also discussed is the alleged link between school corporal punishment and pornography.
