Barry Lyndon comes in at
number 18 in my personal all-time
favourite school corporal punishment scenes
from mainstream movies.
It is unlike others in my
list because it features an adult on the receiving end of a caning.
Barry Lyndon is a
film from 1975 that follows fortunes of a fictional 18th-century Irish
rogue and opportunist who marries a rich widow to climb the social ladder and
assume her late husband’s aristocratic position.

I think Bullingdon (the guy getting caned) is actually supposed to be 17 in this clip, although as usual portrayed by an older actor possibly. More interesting to me was the scene where the younger Bullingdon (aged 11 or 12?) also gets a caning.
