Doco: The history of school corporal punishment
In 2011 BBC TV produced a
documentary ‘A Good Flogging the Story of Corporal Punishment’ in its Timeshift series.
This clip details the
development of corporal punishment in UK schools following the 1870 Education
Act up to the mid-1960s, including at elementary schools and elite public
schools. It features the regime at Eton College, one of the best-known schools in the world.
