Book of the Month: A Last Resort?

Corporal punishment was outlawed in English schools in 1986 and in the years running up to this a group called STOPP (Society of Teachers Opposed to Physical Punishment) was often leading the anti-caning debate. In 1972 Penguin published the group’s book, A Last Resort?

Here’s a review of the book from the New York Times that was widely circulated in the United States. It mentions the brochure available from a cane supplier. That was Eric Huntingdon and we met him and his canes for sale here.

As published by Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona, United States, 28 October 1972.
