Let teachers use cane, MP tells parents

 

A member of parliament called for the cane to be used at schools and for corporal punishment to be reintroduced for young offenders. ‘It was the only thing youths who beat up old ladies could understand,’ Commander J. S. Kerans said at the official opening of a new primary school in 1961.
