Comic: Jack Pott
I think that sometimes when we look back at comic strips from
previous generations it’s difficult not to sit with a slack jaw wondering what
on earth were they thinking?
Here’s a prime example. Jack Pott appeared
in Cor!!, comic that ran for three
years from 1970. Jack’s ‘thing’ was that he was an obsessive gambler. And, he
was just a kid! This was before we had online betting and an obvious social
crisis among young people.
Anyhow, less of the preaching. Jack Pott made a return to
comics in 1979 when Jackpot launched. The title was close
to his name but Jack Pott was not the main character in the comic.
Here are a couple of strips from Cor!! with Jack getting in
trouble at school because of his addiction.
You can find more examples of Jack Pott at Cor!! on the British
Comic Compilations website.
