Movie: The Queen of Sheba’s Pearls

 

In The Queen of Sheba’s Pearls, a film set in England just after the Second World War, three boys are caught in the school changing room discussing and about to engage in some ‘personal abuse’. When sent to the headmaster he takes a very dim view of this ‘ungodly practice’.

One boy takes the blame for the incident and is alone punished, the headmaster awarding him twelve strokes of the cane.

  1. That's quite a beating - especially the vicious twelfth stroke. The violence of the HM's moral outrage is well conveyed. Bradley seems oddly unmoved, however, both during and after his punishment. No hint of sarcasm in his parting "thank you, sir." Thank you for posting.
