Anger as campaign group alleges beatings ‘abuse’

In the years running up to the abolition of corporal punishment in schools in England in 1985 there were many allegations that children were being “abused”. Organisations such as the Society of Teachers Opposed to Physical Punishment (STOPP) were at the forefront of the campaign.
