TV Drama: Young Charlie Chaplin
Young Charlie Chaplin is an almost forgotten British television drama
series from 1989. It followed the impoverished childhood of the famous silent movie comedian in London, England. This clip combines two scenes. In
the first (pictured below) Charlie (played by Joe Geary) is entertaining his
schoolfriends when the master enters the classroom. Boris the Bunsen burner
tubing is then used in an unconventional manner much to the delight and
amusement of the children watching. The second scene (above) is at a school for
destitute children where Charlie is falsely accused of breaking a window. The
punishment for vandalism is extreme.
Young Charlie
Chaplin is available on a number of streaming services and also on DVD and Blu-ray.
