Wetmore School in the Amphitheater District this week
experienced a paddling switch.
Normally the on-campus paddling of students as a
disciplinary action is handled by a principal teacher or other school employee.
This time the mother of a second-grade youngster took
her son into the principal’s office and asked for the school paddle. It seemed
the youngster failed to obey her commands to go directly home after school was
out.
Because the regular school paddle was broken last week
the mother was handed an 18-inch ruler. The mother then, said school personnel,
put the ruler to use in administering a “sound spanking.”
