Tom Brown’s Schooldays: TV Drama BBC 2
A number of readers (of a certain age?) had fond
memories rekindled
with our trip to Tom Brown’s Schooldays. That was the
evocative BBC adaptation from 1971. It didn’t pull punches with its discipline
scenes.
It was all the more memorable for some because the
five-part series had all but been lost to the general public. That was until a DVD
version was released.
As a treat here’s another scene from the show.
Flashman, the school bully (played by Richard Morant),
is thrashed by Brookes, the head boy. And as we know most bullies are cowards
at heart, and Flashman is no exception.

Yes .... love this .... it’s a pity that when he is getting his cumuppance at the end that they don’t actually show him getting it on the bottom like Tom Browne does in his Caning scene ...
