What is it about grown English men that makes them come over all peculiar at the sight of an old-fashioned whippy school cane?

Alright, I admit I have no scientific evidence to back up my claim. Maybe it’s not only English men who do this.

Here’s a peculiar clip. It’s from a television show called Salvage Hunters. It’s one of those inexpensive series you see all over the television these days.

The point of the exercise is that dealer Drew Pritchard travels throughout the country (UK) in search of antiques from shops, fairs and old mansions to re-sell online or in his shop. Usually, he travels with his long-time friend Tee (John Tee), who acts as van driver and loader when moving the purchased items.

In this clip they are met at some kind of reconstructed schoolhouse by a “fierce” schoolmaster with a whippy cane.

Well, I’ve already told you what happens next.
