Extract: The Flogging

 

Tom Merry has been discovered with playing cards, smoking cigarettes and under the influence of drink. He is to be expelled, but first he must be flogged in School Hall.

Here’s an extract from ‘He Wanted to be Expelled,’ written by Martin Clifford (better known as Frank Richards of Billy Bunter fame), published in the Gem No. 1526, 15 May 1937. It is a convoluted story of deceit and doubles and is quite too complicated to explain here. If you want to read the full story it’s online here.
